Our open submission period runs from July 1st - August 1st each year. Please submit work during our open submission period only.
During our open submission period, our submission process is as follows: We will confirm that we have received your submission within four weeks. If you don't hear from us, please resubmit it. It's possible we did not receive your work, or that our response was lost on the way. Our submission review and response period usually ranges from 8 - 16 weeks. All submissions will eventually receive a reply. However, we cannot offer individual feedback for every manuscript. Please keep in mind that we receive a high number of submissions each period and we generally publish one to two titles per year. If your manuscript is not a match for Peasantry Press at this time, it may be a perfect fit elsewhere. We are looking for highly polished, unpublished novellas and novels in a number of genres, including (but not limited to) adventure, drama, historical fiction, inspirational/Christian fiction, mystery, sweet romance, science fiction of all types, urban fantasy, fairytale, young adult, completed (illustrated) graphic novels. Manuscripts must be 40,000 – 120,000 words. We will also consider picture books that are illustrated by the author. Peasantry Press publishes in the "clean" works category, which means that we do not publish books with overt sexuality (open door sexual situations), adult language (profanity, including standard expletives as well as religious, racial, and gender based ones) or graphic violence/gore. In order to submit work to Peasantry Press, please follow the specific submission instructions. Any book that does not adhere to theses specific requirement will not be considered at this time. Note: Submission date and genre restrictions do not apply if you met one of our editors and he/she invited you to submit a manuscript or if you are currently a Peasantry Press author. |

Attach your complete manuscript in .doc, .docx, or .pages, using Shunn's Proper Manuscript Format. If you are submitting an illustrated picture book, please include a few sample illustrations as well, attached as images or PDFs. Again, please keep in mind that we are only looking for pieces that fit into the "clean" works category, which means that we do not publish books with overt sexuality, adult language (profanity), or graphic violence/gore. Please also only send work that is complete and highly polished. Please note again that any submission that does not adhere to the specific submission instructions (above) will not be considered. Payments and Support
Peasantry Press is an independent, royalty-paying publisher located in Winnipeg, Manitoba. While we don't currently offer an advance, we pay fair, semi-annual royalties. Contracts generally run 5 years. We currently focus on the online market. In order for a book to be successful, writers are expected to be highly active in their own marketing as well, through a variety of means (social media, blogs, local book launches and local bookstore contacts, signings, word-of-mouth, etc.).
Although Peasantry Press is located in Canada, we work with both local and international authors. We believe in a global bookstore: we sell worldwide.
