Who We Are

Peasantry Press is a small, independent, royalty-paying publisher. Here, we believe in the power of story, to captivate and free, to illuminate and inspire. We seek to publish unforgettable works by writers who use the beauty of the written word and the gift of imagination to tell unforgettable tales.

What We Publish

We publish high quality, clean fiction in a number of genres, including adventure, drama, historical fiction, inspirational,  mystery/suspense, romance, science fiction, urban fantasy, and young adult. We are also open to nonfiction submissions.

How We Publish

Peasantry Press publishes both ebooks and paperbacks. Our ebooks are widely available through Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Apple iTunes, and other ebook sellers. Our paperbacks are also widely available online, typically through Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Chapters (Canada). Since the online market offers the greatest access to readers, we focus on promoting online sales.

Like many small press publishers, Peasantry Press uses print-on-demand printing for our paperbacks in order to keep overhead costs low.  Because we are a small press, we prefer to pursue consignment contracts with bookstores local to the author rather than attempting to have  bookstores purchase in bulk from our printer/distributor. "On consignment" titles offer a benefit to you as an author in that excess stock can be returned directly to you (or us) and therefore resold rather than destroyed. However, this does mean those books are available on-shelf only in those select stores with which we've/you've chosen to pursue contracts.

What's with the name?

Picture
We once heard it said that the large publishing conglomerates are the royalty of the literary world, the agents and their writers are the nobility, and the writers on the outside – new writers, niche writers, or writers who don’t wish to be part of the royal court at all – must therefore be the peasants.

And perhaps, in the literary sense, they are. These writers work the creative soil, grow stories from the fertile grounds of the imagination, understand the way words work and use them to craft worlds. They live and breathe writing. They create works that nourish. And what these artisans lack in connections, they make up in artistry. At Peasantry Press, Story is King.
