Author Julia Schettler and Illustrator Sarah Neville will be at the St. Vital Chapters in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to sign copies of the heartwarming story, Fur is Only Fur Deep. They will be signing on Saturday, March 26, from 1 - 4. The book is already available on their shelves.
Fur is Only Fur Deep is one of the few illustrated children's books to address the issue of International Adoption. Telling the story of an orphaned Panda Cub at the Beary Nice Orphanage, Fur Is Only Fur Deep reminds us that families come in all shapes and sizes, and that it's what's on the inside that counts. A celebration of the unique and varied nature of family and the importance of love and acceptance, Fur Is Only Fur Deep is a wonderful book for families of all kinds. It's perfect for the home or the classroom.
If you're in the Winnipeg area on Saturday, March 26th, please stop in at the St. Vital Chapters to meet the author and illustrator and to find out more about this beautiful story.
Julia Schettler's book, Fur Is Only Fur Deep, hit #1 on the McNally Robinson bestseller list for young readers in December. She was also featured on CBC radio and in the Winnipeg Lance. During a local Television spot, Winnipeg's Toad Hall Toys made sure to mention her beautifully illustrated picture book, which they proudly carry.
If you haven't had the chance to check out this heartwarming children's story about acceptance, inclusivity, and international adoption, Fur Is Only Fur Deep is available at Amazon.com, as well as at most other major booksellers.
While we are still busy preparing our line-up for this year - which includes a powerful science fiction novel, a romantic YA urban fantasy, a humorous look at Canadian History, and another sweet children's book - we are also accepting submissions for next year's publishing schedule.
As a small press, we only publish three to five titles a year, which means we must be highly selective with the pieces we choose. We've had to pass on many fantastic manuscripts due to the fact that we are, indeed, quite small, and can therefore only accept those manuscripts that will be the very best fit for Peasantry Press.
To those talented writers out there: never forget, if you have a story to tell and the right words to tell it, go for it. There are so many excellent publishing options, from big publishing houses to small presses like ours to the vast array of independent publishing resources.
That said, if you're a writer with a manuscript ready for publication and are considering Peasantry Press, we'd love to take a look at it. We're not picky about genre, but we do remind you to note that we're considered a publisher of "clean" fiction, which means we don't publish work with profanity, graphic violence, or sexuality. If you're thinking of sending in some work, keep it PG or lower, folks. To find out more, visit our submissions section.
If you're a reader, we're excited to let you know that Peasantry Press is working towards publishing a selection of excellent work, from children's books to genre novels to literary fiction. For now, we'd encourage you to check out our first release, Fur Is Only Fur Deep, an illustrated children's book written by Julia Schettler. Also, sign up for our newsletter, to keep in the know about when our new releases are out! We also have give-aways and promotions, available only to our subscribers.
Here's wishing you a happy new year. May you feel much, read much, love much, and live fully. All the best in 2016, to you from Peasantry Press.
Peasantry Press submission period is now closed until January 1st, 2016. Thank you to all the talented writers who took the time to email us your manuscripts. We've been thoroughly enjoying reading them.

Welcome spring! Welcome green grass and cold drinks. Welcome mountain bikes and afternoons made for reading in the sunshine. Welcome to a new season of creativity.
Here at Peasantry Press, we've now closed submissions until Fall so we can begin the journey towards our first releases. We're excited about the authors we're working with and the few remaining manuscripts we still have under review.
We are also thankful for all the talented writers who trusted us with their work this year. Even though we couldn't find a home for each piece here at Peasantry Press, it's been a privilege to read the wide variety of interesting, engaging, and thought provoking material we received. We will be open for submissions again in the fall.
Stay tuned for news about our upcoming releases!
It's almost here. The snow is beginning to thaw. The chill in the air is subsiding. And, best of all, perhaps, the sun seems more willing to stick around a little longer in the evenings. Winter is beautiful, but we've missed the spring.
Here at Peasantry Press, our staff has been busily preparing for our first releases, although there is still much to be done. It has been exciting to read so many excellent manuscripts from such diverse authors. We're still looking for more, of course. We'd love to see some young adult fiction or a sweet clean romance. We'd also like some more science fiction and urban fantasy. Most of all, we're looking for compelling stories, interesting characters, and highly skilled writing, from authors who love their craft.
We intend to close submissions in the spring, though, so stay tuned for upcoming dates. And, of course, keep those submissions coming! We're building something special, and we'd love to have you with us.
We’ve launched! Today marks the official start of Peasantry Press! Today, we begin accepting manuscripts and planning for publication.
We’re looking forward to sharing this great adventure with you. Welcome to 2015. Welcome to Peasantry Press.
